We are now able to spend more time together.
Gillian: I was born in Southern Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe and having moved to Wales and then Leicester, I had a number of different careers as a nurse, midwife, health-visitor, clinical note summarise and most important of all a mother to Alice and Jennifer. I met Michael in Herford, German, having arrived by Hercules C130 from RAF Lynham to work for SSAFA at 4th Armoured Division and Headquarters. Michael at the time was Adjutant and spent most of his tour avoiding being linked to me as his fiancée! Whilst Michael is a keen sailor I seem to have spent my married life doing two hobbies I was not particularly passionate about; carriage driving and sailing. However we have a deal in retirement! Only sailing when the weather is good and I have time to look after the garden.
Michael: I was born in Bishop Auckland, County Durham. At 11 I had a calling and went to Burn Hall, school for Mill Hill Missionaries. Through various circumstances I ended up in the Army from 16, commissioned into the Royal Corps of Signals at 19 where I served till 49. The second career was with Gartner Consulting, before retiring at 63. I now spend my time persuading Gillian to sail and looking a multiple forecasts in the hope one of them will give me good news! I also enjoy greatly cycling in the Cotswold and Vale of White Horse on either the Temple or the Brompton bikes.
